Field Surveyor
Reports directly to the Director of Modular Wall Division on all matters. The Field Surveyor will be responsible for conducting field surveys in various aspects and related office work for construction of the project with a high level of accuracy, ensuring the design criteria is adhered to and well documented. Duties and responsibilities of the Field Surveyor include but are not limited to the following:

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering or a related field;
  • College Degree in Surveying or Geomatics;
  • Project Management Professional Certification n is an asset.
Years of Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in surveying for construction;
  • Involvement in at least one high rise construction projects.
Working Hours
  • Hours: 7:30 am - 5 pm;
  • Work may involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises
  • Requires driving a company vehicle to visit sites, clients or Site Supers;
  • Full Health and Safety training required (Working at Heights, WHMIS);
  • Follow Health and Safety standards on site; and
  • Flexible to work overtime as required.
Required Level
  • Detail oriented with the ability to read architectural drawings;
  • Knowledgeable in the industry and knows about the products and systems;
  • Knowledge and experience of survey practices and standards;
  • Experience with the operation of robotic total station, GPS, and other survey instrumentation and software from Leica;
  • Basic knowledge and experience of survey data preparation for field surveys/download and process through instrument office software;
  • Strong Computer skills and the ability to use AutoCAD, Leica Infinity, etc.,
  • Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills with a high level of dependability;
  • Strong customer/client focus with the ability to build and maintain relationships and communicate directly with the client on key issues in a timely, efficient, and trustworthy manner;
  • Ability work on many projects that are large and complex;
  • Discretion, judgment, and tact to handle confidential information;
  • Ability to operate independently and effectively direct in a multidisciplinary team environment;
  • Write letters, memos and emails;
  • Communication with coworkers daily by telephone, email and in person; and
Job Specific Duties
  • Minimum of 2 site visits per project each week;
  • Participate in kick-off meeting for installation with the lead Installer and Engineering;
  • Maintain chronological photo history of project development to monitor progress of installation and risk management;
  • To review and assist other Field Surveyors as required;
  • Prepare and review survey plans, drawings, and documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards;
  • Utilize surveying software to process collected data, create digital models, and generate accurate maps, plans, and reports;
  • Establish control points and benchmarks to ensure accurate positioning and referencing of survey data;
  • Conduct research to gather information from legal documents, maps, and previous surveys to aid in accurate data collection and interpretation;
  • Represent State, as requested, in business with customers, consultants, contractors, and suppliers; and
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Director of Modular Wall Division.
