This position would start early in the morning (4:30 AM) helping in the barn with the routine for the dairy cows. Tasks can include feeding, bedding, and general animal husbandry. The morning shift is from 4:30 AM to 8:30 AM. This is the most important shift where candidates need to be reliable and are paid per shift. After morning chores, the candidate can choose their own schedule as to when the rest of the tasks need to be completed throughout the week, this is paid hourly.
Tasks for the rest of the day vary. Some of the tasks include cleaning of water throughs, parlour, milk tank area, etc. depending on season and expertise can also include driving tractors and other farm machinery during planting and harvest season as well as helping with barn and machinery maintenance.
Individuals must be confortable working in a fast paced environment, doing some repetitive tasks.
The ideal candidate is a team player, has good judgement and is able to efficiently follow directions. Attention to detail is a must! Overtime is sometimes required. A valid driver’s licence is required.
