Transporter


 

The Transporter is responsible for ensuring the proper distribution of materials and documentation between company facilities as well as other sites.

Job Functions and Responsibilities

The Transporter is responsible for performing all duties and assigned tasks in accordance with DAS’s policies, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Understand safety regulations as they pertain to vehicles and transportation of goods.
  • Adhere to transportation schedule as established.
  • Deliver components, assemblies, material, and equipment between company work sites/facilities.
  • Deliver equipment and material from contractors and other suppliers to DAS facilities.
  • Assist in loading products for shipping to customer sites as needed.
  • Transport internal mail between DAS facilities.
  • Assist in placing material on material carousels as needed,
  • Assist with movement of building components around production floors.
  • Complete required documents accurately.
  • Follow safety regulations to inspect all vehicles and equipment prior to start of shift or other use.
  • Ensure adequate supplies of propane for forklifts and water for water coolers.
  • Report maintenance issues or damage to tools, machinery, and other equipment to supervisor.
  • Outdoor maintenance (snow clearing, cutting grass and any other outside duties as requested).
  • Handle solvents and other hazardous material in accordance with WHMIS regulations
  • Assist in production, testing, hardware, and setup as required.

Safety and Quality

  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Report all unsafe conditions and near miss incidents immediately to supervisor.
  • Participate in all meetings and toolbox talks as required.
  • Follow OH&S guidelines as outlined in company policies.
  • Report non-conformances (defects) as soon as they are identified.
  • Bring forward suggestions for improvements (OFIs).

Job-Related Employment Requirements

Educational

  • Fluent in English Language (verbal and written).
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Valid forklift license is a definite asset.
  • Completion of WHMIS and/or other safety training is an asset.
  • Experience in a construction or manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • On-the-job training provided.
